Top 12 Facial Cleansers - Oil and Water Based

Finding a good skincare routine and sticking to it can be difficult if you don’t have the right products for your own skin. There are so many skincare tips available, but sometimes it feels like too much.

When it comes to the first step of any skincare routine, we should aim for cleansers that make our skin feel its best. From experience, it was fairly obvious when a cleanser was working for my skin versus when one wasn’t.

Why we need to cleanse

I feel like this answer is fairly straightforward, but we need to cleanse our face in order to get all the excess dirt, oil, and just general build-up from our face. Especially if you’re wanting to wear makeup, or if you do wear makeup, I cannot emphasize just how important it is to cleanse your face.

Our faces get exposed to a lot throughout the day, including pollutants and toxins, so please, do your skin a huge favor and cleanse your face at least twice a day, daily.

At night, it’s so important that we double cleanse, especially if you wear makeup. An oil-based cleanser really helps that initial deep clean; it helps to remove makeup, dirt, oil, pollution, etc. Instead of using a makeup wipe, I’d opt in for an oil cleanser as it’s more gentle on the skin. Afterwards, you still need to use a water-based cleanser just to ensure clarity and cleanliness.
