Filipino-American Owned Clothing/Accessory Brands

What better way to celebrate Filipino-American History Month than by supporting and buying from Filipino-American owned businesses. Filipino fashion is timeless, honestly, and the modern Filipiana is becoming more widely known.

I love showing off my culture and wearing things that make me feel more closely tied to my culture. These are just some clothing and jewelry brands that I absolutely love. Not only are these Filipino-owned brands, but most of these are handmade. These owners love what they do and show a lot of love and culture through their pieces. Let’s get into it!

1. Sunkissed Pinay

This is one of my favorite Filipino-owned jewelry stores! Sunkissed Pinay provides affordable Filipino jewelry ranging from necklaces to cufflinks. There is such a wide range of jewelry and additional accessories for everyone! My favorite piece right now is my custom Baybayin script necklace<3

2. Marharlika

With a combination of the owner’s name, Mar, and the Tagalog word “maharlika” (historically referring to members of the Tagalog warrior class, now meaning aristocracy), she has taken a nice spin on modern Filipino jewelry. You may have seen her classic Reyna headband on social media or CNN Philippines, as she has created beautiful statement pieces! These stunning headpieces and jewelry are giving a new name to Filipino modern  jewelry.

3. Ugat Clothing

Ugat clothing is bringing you Filipino streetwear! This brand has many different collections ranging from Baybayin to Pinoy Foods. Make sure to also check out his FAHM collection! Throughout each collection, Filipino history, culture and struggle is showcased throughout!

4. Handmadebypmaccay

These pieces stood out to me so much because of how cute and spunky they are. Not only are they such vibrant, beautiful pieces, but they are still showcasing Filipino culture! There are pieces for literally everyone and each piece is guaranteed to be a statement. My current favorites are the calamansi earrings and vanilla bean gigi <3

5. Vinta Gallery

Vinta Gallery, based in Toronto, showcases the modern Filipiana while focusing on handcrafted, heirloom quality Filipino craft and culture. Each piece is sustainably made and created to be worn everyday, or dressed up. They curate pieces from weddings to couture to everyday. With each stunning piece, you are showcasing Filipino culture and history!

6. Brown.Brilliant.Beautiful

You may have seen the stunning stoles from BrownBrilliantBeautiful, but they also create such cute pieces from jewelry to hats! This small business, lifestyle brand is helping you showcase Filipino culture in everyday styles, while embodying a deep connection to community and culture. They are committed to empowerment, social justice, but also self-love; they want to show just exactly what it means to be brown, brilliant and beautiful. My current favorite piece is the napintas (arch) earrings <3

7. Kuyate Co.

Kuyate is brought to you by the ones and onlys AJ Rafael and  Alyssa Navarro Rafael! As they are both the eldest siblings, they combined the terms “kuya” (meaning big brother) and “ate” (meaning big sister) to curate their beautiful brand. As kuya and ate, they are using that love and care that we’ve learned through culture to showcase through KuyAte. They want you to be able to unlock memories from your childhood and show pride in your Filipino culture through their pieces.

8. JZL.LTTRSandCRFTS

JZLLTTRSandCRFTS showcases Filipino culture through their statement earrings. These polymer clay creations are stunning and perfect for everyday or for a statement piece. There are beautiful pieces for everyone to showcase culture or just for a stunning look! My current favorites are the luzzia earrings<3

9. The Mestizo LA

This is a brand that’s actually inspired by multiple cultures, hence its name Mestizo. Each piece has Filipino-Spanish roots and is Chinese-inspired, with influences from western fashion. As stated on the website, “The Mestizo promotes each individual’s choice of self-representation whatever your taste may be”. The founders wanted to create products of a rich cultural heritage showcased through the beauty of integration in every unique creation.

10. Filipinta Beauty

I absolutely adore this brand because it intertwines makeup with culture. Those two things are literally my personality. The name itself is “a combination of the words ‘Filipina’ and ‘pinta’, roughly translating to ‘face paint for Filipinas.’” All of their products are curated for all of my Filipino makeup lovers! Their glosses are my absolute fav <3

11. Cambio & Co

This is an honorary mention since they are based in Canada! They are still a Filipino company and I love their jewelry, so why not give them a spotlight, too!

Cambio & Co which is a Filipino jewelry company based in Toronto and Manila. You may have seen or heard of them from Cosmopolitan, Huffpost or even Forbes. Each piece is sourced from Philippines-based designers and artisan brands to “build bridges with the diaspora and dispel the colonial myth that ‘imported is better’”. These beautiful pieces are preserving traditional craftsmanship while deepening your connection to the homeland.

@cambio_co

The list doesn’t end here! I encourage you to do your own research and find brands that you love, all while supporting the Filipino-American community. Feel free to comment any other Fil-Am owned brands that you love! Mahals!
